B.S. in Statistics: General Option

Recommended as preparation for graduate studies in Statistics.

For requirements from previous years please consult the General Catalog Archive.  Beginning Fall 2016 the Department of Statistics will be offering several new data science couses (STA 141B, 141C, and 160) that may be used to fulfill some of the major requirements for the B.S General track.  You can view how these courses may be substituted here 

Preparatory Subject Matter (30-32 units)

  • MAT 21A-B-C-D Calculus
  • MAT 22A or 67 Linear Algebra
  • MAT 25 Advanced Calculus
  • ECS 30 Programming and Problem Solving or ECS 40 Software Development and Object-Oriented Programming (ECS 10 should be taken before ECS 30 if programming experience is limited)
  • Any one introductory statistics course except STA 10 (STA 32 recommended)
